Stardust Dispatch #8
Hello star people!
Exciting things are afoot in the atomic jackalope world. My book comes out in five months and I have been busy busy busy getting ready for the launch.
But first, I owe you some follow-ups:
That tincture I made out of the canyon creeping sage in my yard? Turned out wonderfully! It has a medicinal scent that unfortunately doesn't smell at all like creeping sage, but does smell healthy! I've used it on bug bites, small kitchen burns, and it has a cooling, soothing effect similar to bengay. I bet if I make another sage batch with some of my garden mint thrown in, it'd be even better. I deem this experiment a success.
Neotropolis, where I wrote my April newsletter, was a blast. It was like an SCA event but for people who play Shadowrun. Our camp ran the Adorable Aliens Adoption Agency (AAAA! which is the sound you make when you see our cute aliens up for adoption!) and bartered away a bunch of little critters in exchange for all kinds of fun stuff. Even if you've never LARPed before, if you're at all I interested in cyberpunk shenanigans and can make it out to the Mojave desert for some camping, I recommend you give it a shot. Where else can you venture out into the dusty streets of a spaceport town in search of a cold libation and be pulled into a web of intrigue hunting down intel for a mysterious broker known only as The Dame and then adopt a cute little alien critter as a pet from someone you met in line at the taco stand after the synthwave concert later that night? Nowhere!

A bit of newsletter housekeeping:
For really real this time y'all, The Breakfast Serial is coming back this month! Look for a scrumptious recipe and updates on Harper Luna's travels across the planet Ocasta this weekend. For those who've joined the Stardust Dispatch recently, you may want to go back into the archives and start here to learn more about what's going on.
With (at long last) the revival of the Breakfast Serial, plus my foray into mixing music sets for this crowd, I've segmented out my newsletter offerings into 3 tags. I don't want to spam any of you, but I don't want to cram all of that into one monthly newsletter, either. So if you go into your contact settings, you can opt-out of the Breakfast Serial or the Mixtape (or all 3 if you're sick of me) and you won't get those emails when I send them. You can still browse those tags at any time from my site or resubscribe yourself later on if you miss me.
Since this newsletter is coming out a bit late, I'm adding the Mixtape link here instead of sending it as a separate email, but beginning in June, it will be its own thing separate from the Dispatch.

Okay back to business!
This weekend I'm at WisCon, an incredible feminist science fiction & fantasy convention that's normally in Wisconsin and this year entirely online for the low price of $25. A wild bargain, I agree!

Get your ticket for the weekend here and come see my panels and a reading from The Heresy of Thieves!
Next month I'm off to Chicago for the Nebulas, and I'm going by train, so June's newsletter will be somewhat of a travelogue of my round trip journey.
Until next time, starfolks, wishing you safe travels and cold beverages along the way.
